Citizens of a Different Kingdom

Citizens of a Different Kingdom

Most men spend their lives trying to fit somewhere — into a job, a crowd, or an image that makes them feel like they belong. But Paul reminds us that our true home isn’t here. We’re citizens of Heaven, sent to represent a different Kingdom in a world that’s chasing temporary things. That changes everything — how we handle pressure, how we treat people, and how we carry ourselves when no one’s watching.

Picture a soldier stationed in a foreign land. He lives there, eats there, maybe even learns the language, but he never forgets where he’s from. His uniform, his orders, and his purpose all come from home. That’s what it means to follow Christ — we live here, but our orders come from above. The world may drift, but we hold the line.

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

Paul knew that following Jesus meant moving forward, even when it hurt. Heavenly citizens don’t look back—they press on. Every setback, every wound, every long march is shaping the man God is forging for eternity.

So walk steady. Lead your family. Work with integrity. Love people who don’t understand your faith. You might be stationed in a hard place right now, but you’re carrying the flag of Heaven. This isn’t home — it’s your temporary post.
