What He’s Done

What He’s Done

Men, Psalm 106 calls us to remember. Every victory, every provision, every breath of strength–God did that. He has walked with us, covered us, and led us farther than we could have gone alone. He loves to bless His sons. Yet Scripture says: “But they soon forgot what He had done and did not wait for His plan to unfold.” (Psalm 106:13).

Forgetfulness is the doorway to disobedience.

Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. – Deuteronomy 8:11-14

He blesses His children to prove that we can trust Him. The challenge comes when we forget what He has done. Then, when we stop giving Him thanks and trust, things begin to wane. When we forget His many blessings and fail to wait for His provisions and plans to unfold in our lives, He will give us over to our own fleshly desires. He never forces our trust and obedience. Our obedience is in direct correlation to our faith!

Here is how it works:

  • Doubt is the cousin to disobedience.
  • Disobedience has consequences.
  • Bad trees don’t produce good fruit.
  • Good trees ONLY produce good fruit.

Yet, as we see in Psalms 106:13-15, Israel grew impatient and refused to trust God.

But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold. In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test. So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.

Psalm 106:13-15

Despite the Lord’s many blessings, the Israelites forgot and began to complain and grumble. Selfishly, they followed their flesh and its cravings instead of waiting on God. Choosing to act apart from God’s will never ends well. The consequences of sin and disobedience end in death. However, trusting and waiting on the Lord, and walking by faith, always ends well!

Waiting on the Lord in faith always ends well. A journey that ends well starts with a trusted Guide. Our journey only has two possible destinations. It’s up to us to choose which guide we follow. His blessings become ours!

Have a great weekend.
